Brunei footballer Faiq Jefri Bolkiah is the captain of the Brunei national team.Faiq is the son of Jefri Bolkiah, Prince of Brunei and nephew of Hassanal Bolkiah, the current Sultan of Brunei. Faiq Jefri was born in Los Angeles and holds both Bruneian and American citizenship, however, he had his education in Great Britain at Bradfield College.

Unlike many footballers, Faiq had the chances of playing with the USA national soccer team as well as the Brunei National team but as a royal of the former country, Faiq decided to play for his home country Brunei at the Under 19 and the Under 23 levels including the 2015 Southeast Asian Games.In 2009,Bolkiah signed a one-year deal with the Southampton F.C. Academy. Bolkiah signed a two-year youth contract with Chelsea of the Premier League right after playing with Arsenal Football Club. During his time with Arsenal, Bolkiah competed in the 2013 Lion City Cup against Corinthians, Eintracht Frankfurt, PSV Eindhoven, and a Singapore youth selection.
