Ocean began his musical career as a ghostwriter, prior to joining the hip-hop collective Odd Future in 2010. The following year, he released his first mixtape, Nostalgia, Ultra, and subsequently secured a recording contract with Def Jam Recordings.

Frank Ocean‘s estranged father Calvin Cooksey has sued the Blonde singer for libel in a civil lawsuit filed Thursday in Los Angeles. Cooksey is seeking $14 million.
In the lawsuit, obtained by Rolling Stone, Cooksey accused his son of libeling him in a Tumblr post the singer wrote following the deadly Pulse nightclub shooting.
Frank Ocean has won the libel case brought forward against him by his father Calvin Edward.
